MANUEL PERRY

As a second generation Sacramentan, Manuel Perry's lifelong attraction to this city has only been interrupted once when he attended the University of Oklahoma during a brief stint with the U.S. Air Force. Upon his return, he began his career with New York Life, starting as a new agent at the bottom rung of the ladder. His insurance business has grown along with his city and today he holds distinguished membership in a number of industry organizations. As a New York Life agent, he has earned lifetime membership in the Million Dollar Round Table*, an honor he is proud to hold. He is a licensed life and health agent and focuses much of his work with the financial issues associated with retirement. He is a 30 year recipient of the National Quality Award, an award that honors agents who consistently demonstrate quality life insurance production. Additionally, he has the distinction of holding the second longest membership in the Sacramento Association of Life Underwriters.

As a community volunteer, Manny has served as the Chairman of the Board for First Commercial Bank, an independent bank that is listed on NASDAQ with more than nine branches in California. He has served on the Board of Regents of Christian Brothers High School, a 120-year-old institution in Sacramento, and served as President of the Board from 1989-1991. He is a past board member of the Sacramento County Retirement System, where under his leadership, the pension fund increased by more than 200 percent.

Manny has devoted much of his time to the youth of Sacramento. He has been actively involved in American Legion Baseball, coaching for more than 20 years and holding volunteer positions as Area Commissioner, Chairman of Northern California, and 1980 State Chairman. His 1981 team remembers him fondly as he took them to the World Series in Sumptner, South Carolina. With eight teams out of 3,600 nationwide making it to the finals, the Kennedy-Valley team came in fourth.

Manny resides in Loomis with his wife of 45 years, Mary Jane. They have five adult children. He still plays softball with the Golden Seniors where he covers first base.

Children hold a special place in Ted’s heart, and he has been particularly interested in finding ways to help kids who are suffering from high risk & terminal illnesses. Early in his investment career, he gathered friends and clients who either have diabetes or have a child with diabetes to form a local Juvenile Diabetes Chapter, where it continues to provide ongoing education and an annual benefit walk. Ted has found this to be both personally rewarding and a legacy, as the chapter continues to benefit young kids and adults.

Being involved in the Make-A-Wish Foundation Northern California Chapter at all levels has been especially fulfilling for him, allowing him to not only serve the children’s immediate needs, but also to give them memories that will never be forgotten. He has been a Wish Volunteer, a Wish Maker, a Board Member, and is currently an emeritus Board Member.  Ted also served as Chair of the Winter Wine & Food Fest. His friends who gather at wine releases to share in his love of paring quality wine with fresh foods have contributed in part to the growing success of the annual event.

Ted’s off-time is also spent furthering community awareness & education of medical breakthroughs, serving as a member of the UC Davis Community Leadership Council. Ted fulfilled a dream to engage the medical community to raise funds for the 14 Free Medical Clinics in the Greater Sacramento Region by being a sponsor and chairing the wine planning committee of the Serotonin Serge inaugural Spring Break 2005 event that involved raising over $100,000 to directly benefit families who cannot afford their own medical care.

Ted lives in Granite Bay with his African Grey Parrot, Zazu. Although Ted devotes much of his time to the firm and his clients, he enjoys cycling and attending local athletic events, and will occasionally hit the ski slopes at Lake Tahoe. He is a connoisseur of fine wine and an avid collector of antique furniture.
